Egyptian Encounters supports the trans-national mobility of people working in the cultural sector and the intercultural dialogue by organizing an intensive working period in witch European musicians will closely relate with the cultural heritage from the Egyptian musicians meaning their musical traditions and instruments.
The project enctourages the trans-national circulation of artistic and cultural works and products by putting up a egyptian/ european tour in whitch the outcome of the working period will be shown on stage. By getting sound technicians and video artists involved, who will play an essential role in bringing together different musical traditions, sounds and immages, in such a way that the musicians ánd the public will be abel to learn about the communicative aspects that will be discovered while working together, the project will closelly connect to the theme of the European Year 2009: Innovation and creativity.
